In Brenguļi, in the picturesque bend of the Abula River, has been restored an ancient, 18th-century homestead, characteristic of the Latvian landscape, in new condition with modern technological solutions. The house has been renovated to a very high quality, the work was done by local craftsmen. In 2017, it received the award "Best building of the year in Latvia". The architect is Alla Mellen.
Property composition:
- a plot of land with a total area of 6 ha;
- residential house with a total area of 376 m2, living area 331.22 m2;
- agricultural warehouse;
- farm building;
- lounge house;
- sauna building.

The exterior appearance of the residential house has been restored, as it was preserved from the 19th century – gable tile roof with the characteristic slope – “lāčpakaļu” – at the ends, masonry walls and wooden board cladding. The house is perfectly insulated and high energy efficiency has been achieved. The building structures are merged with orangery, creating an open green space. Remotely adjustable skylights form an atrium in the middle of the house that illuminates the first floor. Windows can be opened, closed and darkened with built-in blinds. Modern ventilation systems "TwinFresh COMFO RA1-50" with recuperation elements ensure the supply of heated fresh air in every room. The automatic, remotely controlled central heating boiler has been moved outside the house and placed in the farmhouse, thus freeing the house from the emissions and risks of the burning process. As an original heating element, heated footboards have been used, which were the most effective in this situation. Paints with a self-cleaning effect are used for the facade of the house. They are produced with the help of nanotechnology, and thanks to the power of light, atmospheric dirt does not settle on them. Rainwater from the large roof plane is collected and drained to the river slope.
